Attendance and Course Completion:
Currently Grumpas Driving School offers the course in a hybrid format utilizing the AAA Blended course, utilizing the How To Drive AAA curriculum. Note: We may be offering traditional in the future so keep a look out for courses on our website for the most up to date information.
Students must attend all 30 hours of classroom, 10 hours behind the wheel and parental involvement and pass the final exam with at least an 80%, in order to earn their course completion certificate. If student fails final exam, they will be allowed one retake for free. If they fail a second time, they can take the exam again for fee. See Fees* If students fails exam after 3 attempts, they will be required to take the classroom portion over with in 2 months of the last exam attempt. If past the 2 months student will be required to retake the course and pay full course fee.
Student and Parent/Guardian are required to attend mandatory Orientation. Student must attend all in person sessions. We also offer the option for the Parent to ride as an observer for the last hour of behind the wheel. This gives the parent an idea of how their child is doing before they get behind the wheel of their car. This is not required but is recommended. If student misses an in-person class students can make up the class for a fee. Make-up date will be determined by the instructor. See Fees*
Student is expected to complete the AAA portion of the courses before the final exam test date, please bring AAA online completion certificate. Failure complete AAA portion of the course will result in student being denied a seat for to take the review & final exam. It is expected that students will spend at least 9 hours per week doing the online portion of the course. This is the time that we would be in class if doing traditional. If student fails to complete online portion of the class before the exam an alternate date will be determined by the instructor for a fee. See Fees*
Behind the Wheel Training
Students will be picked up and dropped off at Mattanawcook Academy, 33 Reed Dr, Lincoln ME 04457. Drive time will consist of a minimum of (5) 2-hour sessions. Students who have at least a minimum of a one-hour study hall may request drive time during that study hall. Student must have parent or guardians written permission to drive during study hall. A copy of the permission must be on file at their school, in addition to Grumpas Driving School. It is expected that the student be on time and ready to drive. If you can’t make a driving appointment, please give Grumpas Driving School 24 hours’ notice via text or email. Less than 24 hours’ notice will incur a fee at the instructors’ discretion. See Fees*.
Media Consent:
By submitting the registration form, both the parent and student provide consent to Grumpas Driving School to utilize photographs and/or video footage of the student on the company website and social media platforms. These visuals will be used solely in connection with drivers’ education and for the purpose of promoting or advertising the school’s services.
Code of Conduct:
Students are not allowed to use any alcohol, tobacco of any kind or drugs. If a student is found to be under the influence from drugs or alcohol the student will be removed from the class and will be expelled from the course.
Dress Code:
All students should be dressed appropriately no shirts with offensive slogan or promoting drugs, alcohol or tobacco, and suitable shoes must be worn during the driving portion. No flip-flops, slippers, sandals, etc.
Course Withdrawal Refund Policy:
Request needs to be made via text or email.
Withdrawal before or on 1st day of class Refund* Issued minus $200.00 Non-Refundable deposit.
After 1st class, NO REFUND WILL BE ISSUED
Student can enroll in future class if end date of new class is with 6 months of start date of original course.
After 6 months Full Course payment will be charged and any increase in price.

School/Behind the wheel Cancellations Grumpas Driving School
There may be times due to weather or mechanical issues that we need to cancel. Students will be given notice via text and email. Please note if RSU 67 cancels school or after school activities we will not have in person class. If everyone has zoom access, we will switch to zoom for that class. Exception: Review & Permit test will be rescheduled as it needs to be in person. If school is canceled, we will still be having driving time unless instructor deems it unsafe to be out on the road. In addition to notice via text and email, updated cancellation information will be posted on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
Missed Class
All classes are required: Orientation, Classes 1 & 2.
You will not be scheduled to drive until the above is complete.

Harassment includes but is not limited to verbal abuse based on race, color, sex, sexual orientation, religion, ancestry or national origin, or disability. Under the Maine Civil Rights Acts, violence of threats of violence against a person or their property based on their sexual orientation are also illegal. All students and instructors associated with Grumpas Driving School will be trained in harassment prevention according to Maine Law. This will take place during student/parent orientation. Harassment of any kind will not be allowed in class or behind the wheel at any time.
If students are found engaging in any form of harassment, they will be asked to leave the class immediately. Meetings with the Owner will be scheduled, which will include Parents and all involved Students. After hearing from all involved a determination will be made about allowing the student to continue to take the class. Should Student be allowed back into the class. Student will be required to pay the Make-up fee plus additional violation fee. See Fees*
By enrolling in this course both Student and Parent/Guardian agree to adhere to the policies of Grumpas Driving School. Failure to follow policies could result in removal from the course.
