Driver Education Policies
Please review these policies before registering. Registration confirms your understanding of course, payment, attendance, and scheduling requirements.
Eligibility & Payment
- Students must be 15 by Orientation Day.
- A copy of the student's birth certificate is required at Orientation.
- Course tuition is $600.
- A $200 non-refundable deposit reserves the student's seat.
- The remaining $400 is due 7 days before Orientation.
- A $25 late fee is added if the balance is not paid by the due date.
A student's seat is not guaranteed if the required
balance is not paid by the deadline.
Course & Attendance Requirements
- Student/Parent Orientation is required and held in person.
- Students must attend both required live Zoom classes.
- The Review & Permit Test is required and held in person.
- Missed required sessions may delay course completion and require rescheduling.

AAA Online Course
- AAA coursework must be 100% complete at least 4 days before the Review & Permit Test.
- Students must show progress in AAA before driving appointments may be scheduled.
- Completion must be verified before testing.
If the 4-day deadline is missed:
A $25 administrative fee will be charged.
Any scheduled driving appointments will be canceled.
Driving appointments may be rescheduled after AAA is completed and will be subject to availability.
The student may also need to take the Review & Permit Test on a later available date.

Behind-the-Wheel Driving
- Students must complete five 2-hour sessions for a total of 10 hours.
- Maximum of 2 driving appointments per week.
- Maximum of 1 driving appointment per day.
- At least 24 hours' notice is required to cancel.
- Less than 24 hours' notice: $50 late-cancellation fee.
- No-call/no-show: $100 fee.

Alternate pickup or drop-off locations must be
approved in advance. Changes after booking
may not be accommodated.
Course Completion
Students must successfully complete:
- Orientation
- Both Zoom classes
- AAA online coursework
- 10 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction
- Review & Permit Test requirements
Student Conduct & Driving Safety
- Students must behave respectfully and safely during all portions of the course.
- Alcohol, drugs, or impairment are prohibited.
- Harassment, threatening behavior, or unsafe conduct will not be tolerated.
- Students must wear footwear that allows safe operation of the vehicle.
- Flip-flops, slippers, and other unsafe footwear are not permitted during driving sessions.
Withdrawal & Refunds
- The $200 deposit is non-refundable.
- Refund eligibility for amounts paid beyond the deposit depends on when the student withdraws.
- No refunds are issued after Orientation Day.
Driver Education Regulation
Driver Education classes are regulated by the
Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Driver Education Section.
